love is in the air
Yesterday`s photograph was taken at the local duck pond which seems to have a fairly steady population of gulls of various types. Much like the gulls, the ducks seem to be feeling a Spring surge of amorous intent. Unfortunately, there does seem to be a bit of an inbalance of sexes, and competition is strong, as seen by this poor lady duck being wooed by five suitors. (:o)

A little too much love going on here
Rosalyn Sears: It did all get rather `frantic`! (:o)
A fine group Rosalyn, but did the quiet last long or did they end up squabbling. Well caught.
Rosalyn Sears: To be honest, Les, this photograph does not purvey the true atmosphere. It actually wasn`t quiet, nor dignified - it was a bit of a frantic, noisy, free-for-all. (:o)
They look like their getting ready to pose for the camera and are vying for the best spot. Fantastic timing and capture.
Rosalyn Sears: Glad you like it, M`roy. I can assure you, the camera was the last thing on their minds. lol! (:o)
OMG, Roz. This is priceless. I love it!
Rosalyn Sears: Pleased you like this one, Ginnie. (:o)
Having raised ducks for years, I'm quite familiar with their mating habits. Drakes do not treat their ducks well. Poor girl!
Rosalyn Sears: Ah, well in that case, Mary, you will be well aware that this `frozen` moment in time may look peaceful, but it belies the `frantic` and not very romantic activity. `Poor girl sums` it up perfectly! (:o)
What a family photo ! From tigers to ducks Roz ?
Rosalyn Sears: Just ringing the changes, Ferdi, lol! (:o)
A beautiful family portrait Roz. Well done!
Rosalyn Sears: It looks much more romantic than it actually was, Richard. (:o)
They look like they are enjoying the spring weather! what a wonderful picture Roz. I love ducks!
Ingrid
Rosalyn Sears: I`m not sure the lady duck was having much fun. (;o)
I'm surprised the sex-and-violence police haven't asked you to remove this image- don't let the kids see it!
Rosalyn Sears: lol! I think these ducks could have taught the Vikings a thing or two - rampant doesn`t begin to cover it. (;o)
I know they don't treat each other nice, I have seen this before, but I think you captured this very well.
Rosalyn Sears: Astrid, it is a good example of how a `frozen` moment in time does not always tell a true story. This photograph makes the ducks look `gentle` and `tender`, when they were, in fact, being very aggressive. I chose it because I liked the `form` of the group at this point. (:o)
Looks like you even got them to smile ;o)
Rosalyn Sears: I bet the lady duck wasn`t smiling (;o)
awesome shoot... great timing and very well spotted
Rosalyn Sears: So pleased you like it, Chantal. (:o)
Great capture of this group of ducks
Rosalyn Sears: Thank you, Magnus. Glad you like it. (:o)
Oh that poor girl, fly away quick. Lol. Beautifully captured Roz
Rosalyn Sears: Well exactly, Aussie! I hope I don`t come back as a lady duck. lol! (:o)
This is so cute Rosalyn. It's such a perfect little scene. Truly wonderful.
Rosalyn Sears: It looks much cuter than it actually was, Scarlet. lol! (:o)
Roz is it love or lust.nice photo
Rosalyn Sears: More like rape and pillage, vintage! (;o)
Well captured and good timing Roz!
Rosalyn Sears: Glad you like it, Michelle. (:o)
Oh my goodness - love certainly IS in the air! What a great photo - colours, sharpness - great!
Rosalyn Sears: The shot looks rather `romantic` does it not? Don`t be fooled, these guys were `thugs`. lol! (:o)
Looks more like a free for all Roz LOL
Great capture.
Rosalyn Sears: `Free for all` doesn`t even come close! (;o)
joli groupe, que se racontent-ils ?
Rosalyn Sears: Merci, marietom. (:o)
I've heard of the love triangle but this is ridiculous! A lovely spring shot, Roz.. a little different from your Marwell images but nonetheless enjoyable.
Rosalyn Sears: lol! Glad you like it, Alan. (:o)
Rosalyn Sears: I was being kind when I called it `love`.... (;o)
This is delightful Roz. I'm grinning at it!
Rosalyn Sears: Thanks, Bill. Glad it made you smile. (:o)
Very funny shot, Roz! Even the ducks seem to be smiling.
Rosalyn Sears: Glad you like it, Martin. (:o)
Like in a supermarket, in the cash register!
Nice one!
Rosalyn Sears: I see what you mean! (:o)
I like this - and I hear the music in my head
Rosalyn Sears: And the song will stay with you all day! (:o)
Spring has sprung!
Ducks are all grinning from ear2ear as they practice their complex "pas de beaucoup". Love this shot, Roz.
Rosalyn Sears: `beaucoup` indeed! It all got rather sordid after this. lol! (:o)
All just good friends.
Rosalyn Sears: `Rampant` good friends! lol! (:o)
Cuddly sort of crowd aren't they, for each other anyway. Lots of fun this one Rosalyn.
Rosalyn Sears: `Cuddly` is exactly how they look in this photograph - don`t be fooled, though, there was no `gentle romance` here! (;o)
I've just realised this was your 300th posting. Well done and congrats
Rosalyn Sears: So it is! Well that just tells you how busy I am - I didn`t even notice. Thank you for pointing it out. (:o)
Roz - this is a TOP shot - cheered me up no end - best shot of the week!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rosalyn Sears: Wow, Mike! I am pleased you think so. (:o)
I love this. Fantastic capture. I agree with M'roy, they look like they're posing.
Rosalyn Sears: Thank you, Jessie. I am so glad you like it. (:o)
