Spring storms - 1
Spring tides and storm force winds have battered the south coast this week. This one was taken at Milford on Sea (where I photograph beach huts etc). The waves were crashing over the sea wall, but the wind was so strong that the instant the wave lifted, it was turned into a huge cloud of spray. The tide had actually turned, and I think the photographs would have been even more dramatic, had I been there earlier. As you can see, from the shingle in the car park, the waves had been breaking a good 20 - 30 yards beyond the sea wall, You will also notice that I got a drop of spray on my protective lens. I have to say, the vibration reduction in my new lens really came into its own. I am not joking when I say it was just about impossible to stay still in that wind, and the camera was hand held. So it did okay. (:o)

Very dramatic - well-timed.
Rosalyn Sears: Thanks, Bruce. It was quite spectacular. (:o)
Beautiful! Looks like some storm blowing in!
Rosalyn Sears: It certainly was a classic `spring` storm, combined with spring high tides. (:o)
Wow! This is a great picture! I love this kind of weather - don't know that I'd get quite so close to the action though! You captured the elements very well!
Rosalyn Sears: I`m glad you like the photograph, and I have to say, I actually was not that close. (:o)
Very impressive picture Roz. You captured it very well!
Rosalyn Sears: Thanks, Richard. (:o)
dramatic drama ... yummy. richard
Rosalyn Sears: lol! It was a spectacular sight. (:o)
Great shot Roz - very dramatic. You did well to compose it so carefully in that raging wind.
Ingrid
Rosalyn Sears: It`s times like that, Ingrid, when Nikor vibration reduction comes into its own. (:o)
That's a cracking shot, very dramatic.
Rosalyn Sears: Thanks, Dave - glad you like it. (:o)
Good shot Rosalyn, you can almost feel the strength of the wind and I like the B&W treatment very much.
Rosalyn Sears: Cheers, brian. I`m happy that it has captured some of the atmosphere for you. (:o)
wow Rosalyn superb capture and well done braving the elements, would have been easy to sit at home on such a windy day
Rosalyn Sears: I could not resist seeing how it looked. (:o)
I was as miserable as sin earlier this week when we had these storms and I was trapped in the office unable to get some time off! Your fine image shows what I missed!
Rosalyn Sears: It is frustrating, especially when you know it is virtually on your doorstop. Even I missed the height of the storm, with other commitments to see to first. (:o)
Oh yes, we were battered by this lot and suffered some damage too
Rosalyn Sears: I saw that the Island had taken quite a battering. Hope your property didn`t get hit. I must admit, although I missed the storm at its peak, I don`t think I can ever rememeber a time when the beach huts were actually thrown up onto the prom by the waves.
This is awesome.
Rosalyn Sears: It was quite spectacular to see, Helen. (:o)
It, and you, did very well Roz. It was a bit risky though to be that close to an angry sea.
Rosalyn Sears: Actually, Bill, I wasn`t so close, and the storm was actually abating. I`m pleased with the photograph, though I know it would have been even more dramatic a couple of hours earlier. (:o)
It's great!
The extreme foreground, with the shingle strewn over the concrete is brilliant.
Rosalyn Sears: Thanks, Ray. I`m glad you like it so much. (:o)
Impressed by this picture Roz, this is storm, you waited for the right moment.
Rosalyn Sears: Thank you, Astrid. Nature at its most impressive. (:o)
Beautiful sight! the BW choice is very good for this! why didn't you clean the drop with a post treatment? because without it the pic would be perfect
