Reclining beauty
I would warn you that most of the photographs from now on were taken through wire mesh fencing, or thick, rather grubby glass. I have done my best with them, and hope you will find them acceptable, or, at the very least, interesting. (:o) I had loads of problems with this beautiful cheetah, due to the fact that I could not get close to the wire mesh (no doubt for very good reason). I find cats fascinating creatures. These big cats show exactly the same body language, facial expressions, and behaviour, as my own cats at home. I understand that cheetahs are on the `vulnerable` list. http://www.awf.org/content/wildlife/detail/cheetah http://www.marwell.org.uk/marwell_zoo/zoo_guide/animal_detail.asp?id=15&letter=C&css=1

Given the conditions you have done well with this Rosalyn, the big cat looks splendid but perhaps a bit wary as well.
Love the patterns on his fur.
Cheeta is my favourite of all the big cats. This is a fine shot of one, despite your challenges, Roz.
Rosalyn Sears: Thanks, Ray. I was disappointed that the wire fencing blurred the, all important, eye. My first attempt at burning and dodging was pretty amateurish. lol! This is one beautiful cat, though. (:o)
I know what you mean about the big cats and their simialr traits to the domestic cat. Not too sure this one would let you rub his belly, though! This looks a fine shot, Roz, although his right eye looks a little soft for some reason - the rest of hom is very sharp. Great capture of his markings.
Fine shot Roz. Big cats are fascinating!
You've done well Roz. He is beautiful. I agree with you they are fascinating creatures. We have three now and they have distinct personalities.
great effort Rosalyn, shame about the fence, interesting conversion too as the colour of these cats is fabulous
It's nice, you've done a good job with this. Mono is unusual for animal shots these day, but it does work doesn't it.
What a shame that the wire has blurred the eye. Of all features this is the one that needs to be pin-sharp. Everything else is great - the pose, the exposure, the expression, the formatting, the B&W high contrast .... so near Roz.
(Written before I read your comments). Please look at my posting of March 20 for vital safety information about cats. http://ronshavreen.shutterchance.com/photoblog/Just_Here%A3!;question%A3!;_/
What a gorgeous face. I just learned, from my daughter, that the difference between big cats (lions & tigers) and small cats (lynx & puma) is that small cats purr.
Rosalyn Sears: Well they do say `we learn from our children`. (:o)
Beautiful and even sad to see him in jail :-(
Rosalyn Sears: I know what you mean. (:o)
What a beautiful animal Rosalyn, and you have dealt so well with getting the mesh out of focus, well done.
Rosalyn Sears: Thanks, brian. Unfortunately, it spoilt the eye. Never mind - there`s always next time. (:o)
