oh dear. who told you Kiska means "pure" in Russian? Kiska is just a nickname for a cat, mostly female. "Kitty" would be the best equivalent in English, I guess. It doesn't mean anything else, Roz. Sorry.

I saw on your link yesterday about the different names and choosing Kiska and that it means pure. Now a real russian comes along and tells you this treasure's name is Kitty. A story behind a story - something for the papers?

She is gorgeous... I've done a bit of research and although the russian translation may be "Kitty" for the name Kiska, the meaning behind the name is "pure"

Cute! There seems to be a bleached blob around its paws. What caused that?

Rosalyn Sears: Ah well, Martin, this is my first attempt at salvaging a photograph with photoshop. The whole photograph was covered in a criss-cross of blurred wire mesh. To be honest, I was not sure how to attempt it, but opted for `burning` the hazy wire until it could not be seen. I guess I missed a bit! Oops! (:o)
She is beautiful, though, isn`t she? I have another one of her which I really want to try to salvage. That one is a different kettle of fish, though, and I have no idea where to start. (I just have not got the hang of `layers` yet) So I`m going to throw it up on here, in all its hazy, grainy glory, and ask for suggestions...........or better still, a photoshop genius to volunteer! (:o)

Oh now that's almost unbearably sweet!!! I bet she could give you a nasty nip though!

What a cute little animal Rosalyn, but I wish you had taken a bit of the out of focus bit off the left.

Rosalyn Sears: Hi, brian. You know I tried several different ways of cleaning up this shot. On one of them, I applied a `render light` filter in `flashlight` form, and that removed a lot of the unfocused area around the outside, but made the leopard cub too harshly lit. I guess I could have worked a bit more on that, but I really just ran out of time. (:o)

You have captured more than a photo of a cub here. I love wildlife photography and study a lot of the pro's. I really think that if i may say, with a little crp in the right places this would sit right up there amongst them, and this is captive !!!!! Very good work. ( as you have picked critique for this photo, can i point out the light patch appearance at her paws and onto the rock as well, a little burning of this area would really make the photo pop).
