Leap of faith
Putting this one up - just because there is something about it I really like. My daughter is back at home for a while, together with her two Bengal cats, Sid and Nancy. This is Nancy exploring her new surroundings and deciding that she might just try jumping from the first floor to the ground floor through the stairwell! (:o)

This image has a great sense of anticipation and playfulness.
Rosalyn Sears: Thank you. I was anticipating having to rush her to the vets with a broken leg. lol! (:o)
And did (s)he jump?
Superb picture, in every sense of the word. I like the dreamy background and also your angle of view ... and your skill at getting the cat to carry on doing what it was doing, while you took the picture.
Rosalyn Sears: Oh yes - she jumped! I was torn between trying to stop her, and possibly making matters worse, and taking the photograph as she tipped over the edge.
I`m so glad you like the photograph. I like this one, too, and I can`t quite put my finger on why. Nancy was completely oblivious to me - so intent on exploring and getting to grips to the brand new concept of a staircase. She now descends in a more sedate and conventional manner, saving the `death drop` for quiet days when she seems to think my heart needs a good workout. lol! This death defying leap was just the warm-up act. Later in the day, she flung herself out of the sky light window in my daughter`s bedroom, swiftly followed by her brother. So basically they jumped almost from roof level to the ground below. It has not been dull since they arrived! (:o)
I agree with Ellie, Roz, I can just feel the tense of his body, just before the little mouse got..........
Rosalyn Sears: She was just at the point of no return. lol! (:o)
Great in B & w. Clever angle. Love the light and shades here.
Rosalyn Sears: Thanks, Gale - glad you like it. (:o)
I do like this original pose !
Rosalyn Sears: Thank you, Roland - I am glad you like it. (:o)
All of the above...and look at the light shining THROUGH her ear! I love it, Roz.
Rosalyn Sears: lol! Thank you, Ginnie. (:o)
And then she's looking at her friend from upstairs ? Or maybe a little mouse on the floor ... Something very interesting I think ... I love when cats are in this position ... And B&W gives a poetic atmosphere to this photo ... Ann
Rosalyn Sears: Thank you, Ann. She was just at `tipping` point. (:o)
Nancy is about to pounce on a mouse! lol - cool shot. mal
Rosalyn Sears: ...from a great height! lol! Glad you like it, Mal. (:o)
This is by far the best cat shot I have seen. The light and the pose of the cat are wonderful
Rosalyn Sears: Aw Aussie - thank you! (:o)
Do I understand you correctly. You caught the cat in midjump? Wow.
This is the most unusual cat shot I have seen to date. Excellent catch.
Rosalyn Sears: Not quite - just at the point of no return, when she was just tipping over. I`m really pleased you like this, Louis. (:o)
Almost faultless picture- framing, light, detail, everything- superb stuff!
Rosalyn Sears: Thank you for that really kind comment, David. (:o)
Completely unique cat portrait, Rosalyn. And, the right ear has a great sense of translucency. Love it, and glad you posted it.
Rosalyn Sears: Thank you, Ray. I am glad you like it. (:o)
You're goning down !!! Stunning photo Roz !
Rosalyn Sears: lol! Thanks, Ferdi. (:o)
Wow! Rosalyn a very interesting capture. It had never seen a point of view like this one. I repeat, very ingenious!
Rosalyn Sears: Well I am very glad you think so. (:o)
I really love your point of view !
Rosalyn Sears: Thank you, Florence. (:o)
Good catch
Rosalyn Sears: Glad you think so. (:o)
Fantastic shot, the composition is perfect !!
Rosalyn Sears: Thank you, Zeb. So pleased you like it. (:o)
Excellent light makes the shot!
Rosalyn Sears: It was brilliantly sunny and the light was just streaming in from the window on the landing. (:o)
You've captured the inquisitive nature of cats so well here.
Rosalyn Sears: She`s a little minx, this one! (:o)
Very nice shot Rosalyn. I like the POV
Rosalyn Sears: Thanks, Richard. You know, this is one of those shots where I have been pleasantly surprised by the comments. (:o)
Interesting angle Roz. Cool kitty
Rosalyn Sears: Kamikaze Kitty! (:o)
I hope these two aren't named after the punk stars of the same name? It's a lovely picture Ros
Rosalyn Sears: The very same! Glad you like it. (:o)
Excellent captue. I can feel the anticipation. Kudos
Rosalyn Sears: Thank you - really glad you like it. (:o)
beautifully done Roz and love the mono conversion. Kind regards, Neil.
Rosalyn Sears: Thank you, Neil. It definitely looks better in black and white. Really pleased you like it. (:o)
'' 'ear' we go '' ... this can't easily be bettered for the 'decisive moment' richard.
Rosalyn Sears: lol! The decision had definitely been made! (:o)
Purrrfect - I don't usually comment on cat photos but this is just wonderful. Works really well in B&W - do we have a convert???
Rosalyn Sears: Have to say, I am certainly enjoying experimenting with black and white. This one was much improved by the conversion. Hey....look at me, breaking boundries! lol! (:o)
I think you could sell this to a card manufacturer Rosalyn.
Rosalyn Sears: ....and I would, in a flash! I might even sell them the cat. lol! (:o)
Nice angle! the cat has his own shape
Rosalyn Sears: Thank you, sebastien. I know what you mean. (:o)
Great shot! I especially like the contrast between the cat and the background. Nice job.
Rosalyn Sears: Thank you, doema. I am glad you like it. (:o)
Inquisitive and sprung for any adventure. Well timed!
Rosalyn Sears: Fearless and trying to give me a heart-attack! lol! (:o)
Great perspective Ros.
Rosalyn Sears: Thanks Nigel. I really liked this photograph, but I doubted it also. I particularly liked the light, but thought that I would be told it was too bright. I`m pleased I put it up in the end. (:o)
Beautiful cat. Wonderful photo.
Rosalyn Sears: Thank you, Karen. She is beautiful, but she`s a little monkey, too! (:o)
I like this shot Rosalyn. I love cats...they are always upto some mischief. Curious creatures and fun to watch every move of theirs
Rosalyn Sears: I`m glad you like this shot, I liked it too. I wondered if it was just because I know the cat and the circumstances of the photograph, but I am delighted that it seem s to have been well received. (:o)
This is brilliant Rosalyn! Reminds me of a cat peering down into a fish bowl, pondering if the snack is worth the wet paws
