Going to the zoo...zoo...zoo......
How about you...you...you......? I decided to have a `me` day on Saturday, and took myself off to Marwell Zoo. What a treat! I`m not a huge fan of zoos, and I really do not want to spark a debate on the subject, but I do think that attitudes are changing, and many zoos, Marwell included, are really doing their bit for conservation. Sadly, unless something can be done to preserve or regenerate the natural habitats of some of these endangered species, zoos are likely to be their only `habitat`. Photographing captive animals is no substitute for the challenge of true `wildlife` photography, but it does have its challenges.......as this little series will show. Anyway, I shall do my best to recreate my very pleasant day out and I hope you will enjoy meandering with me. (:o),

I have heard that they have snakes at the zoo, but I didn't expect them to look like this
Can I come too...too...too...?
And the bufalo said moo...moo...moo. Let's go to the zoo.
Great use of the s-curve. Maybe you should have kept the part of the rail you lost on the left. Daffodils show spring! Zoo's are good for preserving endangered species. Full stop.
Rosalyn Sears: I agree about the missing bit of rail. I have a shot with it all in, but it included a really ugly lump of wood in the top right corner. I will consign that one to the stack of photographs requiring some serious photoshop work. (:o)
My well that is a nice picture
Great use of the space with this S-corner. I'll follow you...you...you... along these lines!
LOL at Martin and our cows say boo..boo...boo ( Dutch cows this is....they are different I think)love this one Roz.
Boo HOO HOO for those of us who can't go with you you you! How fun, Roz. A day at the zoo, no matter what anyone else says! You won't hear me complaining. Did you get to ride the train that followed these tracks??
"how about you...you...you..."
Great photo! I agree that zoos are "hard", always a bitter-sweet experience!
Love the s-curve on this Rosalyn but Louis is right about the missing bit on the left I am afraid. Gorgeous display of spring flowers alongside the line.
I'm waiting for the choo choo choo. richard
great composition Rozalyn of the scene but will have to agree with Louis about that bit of missing track,
Beautiful shot. The S makes the shot. Haven't been to the zoo in over ten year. Not my favourite place to visit. I feel sorry for the animals
Nice capture. Lovely composition
LOL at Martin ;o)
Not a big fan of zoos either, but did love going as a child. Will meander along with you ;o)
I love the sweep of the line here; presumably there is an animal enclosure to the right of the image (or is the fence to keep the public out
Great colours Rozalyn ! This is spring !
How about you you you?
You can come too too too We're going to the zoo zoo zoo! Agree with all you say Roz. Went to Marwell Zoo many years ago so I look forward to the tour!
Big old lazy 'S'...nice shot.
Pens with no animals, a track with no train; I'm sure the day got better. Looking forward to seeing how it developed.
Well you've shown us a lovely meandering path. Can't wait for the whole journey.
Darn it Rosalyn, I'll be singing that for days now!!!
Marwell is one of the sites that Wild Arena run photo safaris at, these do enable you to get a different view on them. As you say no substitute for the real thing.
I like the lead in to a series of zoo pictures being a railway track though, very off the wall. Look forward to the rest.
Wonderful lines in this photo, Roz. I can't wait to see more pictures of yours at Marvell Zoo!
