A passion for orchids

This week has run true to form - busy, busy, busy!  Hardly enough time to reply to comments, let alone enjoy looking through my fellow Shutterchancer`s offering.  I`m away for the next week to ten days, so this is my last offering for a short while.

Hope I have now managed to reply to everyone, who so kindly left comments on my postings.

I will endeavour to catch up on all the super photographs I know I have missed this week, and the ones I will no doubt miss next week.

See you soon! (:o)

You guys have a great holiday, this is a nice way to sign off, it reminds me of a painting I've seen but I can't remember where.
Rosalyn Sears: Thank you! Not a holiday, unfortunately. I am flying up to Newcastle today to help my daughter pack up her flat, as she has decided to move south again. I will take my camera, though, just on the off-chance I can sneak out and take a few photographs. (:o)

Wonderful work here, Rosalyn. Orchids van be very pretty in nature, and you seem to have made them even more so.
Rosalyn Sears: I agree, orchids are beautiful, but sometimes I find them just too perfect, and absolutely uniform. I like the fact that this `painted` effect, shows a few blemishes and accentuates the small differences in each bloom. (:o)

OMG, Roz. This is definitely a Likey for me!

Go, and have a great time away.
Rosalyn Sears: I am truly pleased you like this. This is the sort of thing I would love to be able to paint - if I had an ounce of artistic skill. However, I don`t. lol! This type of manipulation goes a little way to satisfy that urge. (:o)
I'm not a flowerperson.

But the flavours here are so good...
Rosalyn Sears: When I was young and impressionable, I was completely blown away by Georgia O`Keefe`s work. Not too surprising really. A young teenager, with rising hormones, could not fail to be rather unsettled by her paintings of the natural world. Her interpretation of flowers being far more erotic that the occasional nude she painted. Revisiting her work now, I find I am drawn to her landscapes - I just love them. I am also amazed that she was so ahead of her time - she was born in 1887! I`m not trying to attempt to imitate her style at all. As I said to Ray, I just like the fact that this `painting` style highlights the blemishes and slight differences in the blooms. I`ve no doubt you will know this artist, but if you have a moment, check out some of her landscapes, and you will see why I am so fond of her visceral style. http://www.artst.org/okeefe/?order=rel

I've a passion for YOUR orchid smile
Rosalyn Sears: I am very pleased to hear that! (:o)
Rosalyn this is simply superb. I've just had a look at Georgia O'Keefe from the link. I can see what you mean. Have bookmarked the page for a proper look later. Have a good trip.
Rosalyn Sears: Thank you, Bill. You are very kind. (:o) I`m glad you are finding the link interesting.

Excellent shot and it can also be an excellent coloured glass design.
Rosalyn Sears: It might well lend itself to glass work. Quite simple shapes. I`m glad you like it. (:o)

Ahh a fellow photoshop junkie. Nice processing. I love it.
Rosalyn Sears: Hi Gail. Apologies for the delay in replying to your comment. Finally, I have time to catch up with Shutterchance! No photoshop - that`s way too complicated for me, lol! Simple Microsoft Picture it 7, and a fun programme called Twisted Brush. I do love playing like this! (:o)
Enjoy your time away. smile
Rosalyn Sears: Finally! I can catch up with Shutterchance - I`m looking forward to diving into your archive later today. (:o)

Nice shot Roz. Don't orchids make wonderful subjects. They may be flawlesss but the fact that blooms can last six months or more makes them real good value in my books. BTW do you think passion is the collective noun for orchids? I quite like the idea of a passion of orchids.
