Thought you might be interested in seeing the original of yesterday`s image. Well, almost original, because I increased the saturation a little and deepened the shadows. I still was not happy with the `bleached` wood, so I decided to see what it looked like in negative. Yesterday`s image was the rather unexpected result. Taken on Wednesday morning at Keyhaven. It was the `squiggly` reflections through the gaps in this pontoon, which caught my eye. (:o)

There are probably eight to ten benches scattered around the duck pond. For some reason, this one, which is at the farthest point from the road, has been embellished with colour. I assume it is a form of graffiti, but it is quite restrained (apart from the colour, that is - lol!) (:o)

Thanks for your great comments on the rather `rampant` ducks. I will catch up with you all over the weekend. Rather than following on with more of the same, I spent a few moments looking to for more unusual shots at the same location. Family consensus seems to be that this was the best one, and I have a couple more to follow.(:o)

Yesterday`s photograph was taken at the local duck pond which seems to have a fairly steady population of gulls of various types. Much like the gulls, the ducks seem to be feeling a Spring surge of amorous intent. Unfortunately, there does seem to be a bit of an inbalance of sexes, and competition is strong, as seen by this poor lady duck being wooed by five suitors. (:o)

Black-headed Gull (Larus ridibundus) I learned something today, when I `googled` for information on these birds - they only have black heads in the breeding season! No doubt that would explain why emotions were running high. (see link below) (:o) http://www.arthurgrosset.com/europebirds/black-headedgull.html

Probably my favourite, and most unexpected shot of the day. (:o) Some may feel that the photoshop effects are not appropriate, but it did removed the `haze` created by the glass., and it is one of the few photographs I have taken that I would actually like to have printed in a large format on canvas. Moving on to the Amur tigers now. Needless to say, another endangered species, but at least there is a small revival occuring. On the down side, though, they are in direct competition with the Amur leopards for territory and prey species. A quick `google` will give you load of information, but I am adding a couple of links below. http://www.marwell.org.uk/marwell_zoo/zoo_guide/animal_detail.asp?id=92andletter=Aandcss http://www.panda.org/about_wwf/what_we_do/species/about_species/species_factsheets/tigers/amur_tiger/index.cfm It was raining by the time I got to the tigers, and I was sad to see them disappearing into their shelters. However, my disappointment turned to delight, when I walked round the enclosure to where their quarters were situated, and discovered that one side of the enclosure was glass! I have to say the glass was pretty filthy, due to these big cats` compulsion to `mark` their territory.....eeeuw! Glad to say that the enclosures were pretty odour-tight. lol! However, I noticed that there was a bit of a clear spot down in the left hand corner, about two and a half feet off the ground, so I dropped down and sat cross-legged on the floor. To my sheer delight, the tiger, stopped pacing and lay down right in front of me, not more that six to eight feet away lying parallel to the window. It felt so weird and really wonderful to be so close to this great creature, and when she turned her head and looked me full in the eyes, it made the hairs on the back of neck rise, and brought a lump to my throat. An utterly magic moment for me. (:o)

Not had access to a computer all weekend, hence the slight break in transmission! Once again I`m playing `catch up`. (:o) My daughter visited Marwell before Christmas and raved about the really cute `Sand Cats` (Felis margarita ) and asked me to take some photographs. Well, I guess you can never plan these things, because the `cute` sand cats were avoiding the cold weather, and were all safely tucked up in their centrally heated caves. This was the best I could do. I`m putting it up because they are the smallest of the wild cats, and they will contrast nicely with the bigger ones I`m putting up later in the week. (:o) http://www.marwell.org.uk/marwell_zoo/zoo_guide/animal_detail.asp?id=78andletter=Sandcss=1 This is a really nice blogg, with some interesting stuff on it. http://ailurophiles.blogspot.com/2007/10/sand-cat.html
